Adjectives คือ
คำที่ขยายคำนามหรือคำสรรพนามให้ได้ความชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น
1. Kinds of Adjectives
1. Proper Adjectives คือ adjective ที่บอกเชื้อชาติหรือภาษา
เช่น
Thai Chinese AmericanGerman French Indian
2. Descriptive Adjective มี 3 ชนิด คือ

Quality คือ adjective ที่แสดงคุณภาพ เช่น
good ugly new strong lazy rich
2.2. Size or shape คือ adjective ที่แสดงขนาด รูปร่าง
น้ำหนัก ความสูง เช่น
long fat big tall wide large
2.3. Colour คือ adjective ที่บอกสี เช่น
white yellow pink green orange blue
3. Possessive Adjective คือ adjective ที่แสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ
เช่น
my his her
4. Demonstrative Adjective คือ adjective ระบุแน่นอน ได้แก่
this that these those
5. Definite Adjective มี 2 ชนิด คือ
1. Cardinal คือ adjective ที่บอกจำนวน เช่น
one two three
2. Ordinal คือ adjective ที่บอกลำดับที่ เช่น
first second third
6. Indefinite Adjective คือ adjective ที่บอกจำนวนโดยประมาณ
เช่น

7. Distributive Adjective ได้แก่
each either neither
8. Interrogative Adjective ได้แก่
whose which what
2. Order of Adjectives
เมื่อใช้ adjective ขยายคำนาม ให้วาง adjective ไว้หน้าคำนาม แต่ถ้ามี adjective มากกว่า 1 คำขยายคำนามคำเดียวกัน ให้ถือหลักดังนี้
1. วาง proper adjective หน้าคำนามที่ขยาย เช่นThose
are Siamese cats.
2. วาง descriptive adjective (colour) หน้า proper adjective เช่นThose are brown Siamese cats.
3. วาง descriptive adjective (size of shape) หน้า colour เช่นThose are small brown Siamese cats.
4. วาง descriptive adjective (quality) หน้า size or shape เช่นThose are pretty small brown Siamese cats.
5. วาง definite adjective หน้า quality เช่นThose are three pretty small brown Siamese
cats.
6. วาง possessive adjective หน้า definite adjective เช่นThose are my three pretty small brown Siamese cats.

Comparison of adjectives คือ
การเปรียบเทียบขีดขั้นของคุณสมบัติต่างๆ ของคน สัตว์ หรือสิ่งของ
ตั้งแต่สองอย่างขึ้นไป ซึ่งแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ขั้น คือ
1. Positive Degree คือ ขั้นปกติ เช่น Somchai is
tall.
2. Comparative Degree คือ ขั้นกว่า เช่น Somchai is taller than
Wichai.
3. Superlative Degree คือ ขั้นสูงสุด เช่น Somchai is the tallest boy in my
class.
กฎการเปลี่ยนรูป adjective เป็นขั้นกว่าและขั้นสุด
