Comparison of adjectives คือ
การเปรียบเทียบขีดขั้นของคุณสมบัติต่างๆ ของคน สัตว์ หรือสิ่งของ
ตั้งแต่สองอย่างขึ้นไป ซึ่งแบ่งออกเป็น 3 ขั้น คือ
1. Positive Degree คือ ขั้นปกติ เช่น Peter is
tall.
2. Comparative Degree คือ ขั้นกว่า เช่น Peter is taller than Michael.
3. Superlative Degree คือ ขั้นสูงสุด เช่น Scott is the tallest boy in my
class.
กฎการเปลี่ยนรูป adjective เป็นขั้นกว่าและขั้นสุด
1. เติม er และ est ท้ายคำ เช่น
positive comparative superlative
tall taller the
tallest
strong stronger the strongest
2. ถ้า adjective ลงท้ายด้วย e ให้เติม r และ st เท่านั้น เช่น

wide wider the
widest
white whiter the whitest
3. adjective พยางค์เดียวที่ลงท้ายด้วยพยัญชนะตัวเดียว
และหน้าพยัญชนะเป็นสระ ให้ซ้อนพยัญชนะท้ายอีกตัวก่อนเติม er และ est เช่น

4. adjective ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y ให้เปลี่ยน y เป็น i ก่อนเติม er และ est เช่น
