Prepositions of Time

เป็นคำบุพบทที่ใช้บอกเกี่ยวกับเวลา คำที่มักใช้บ่อยคือ at , on , in ซึ่งมีวิธีใช้ดังนี้
1. At ใช้กับจุดย่อย ๆ ของเวลา วันหรือระยะเวลาที่เป็นเทศกาลประจำปี ตัวอย่างเช่น
- He is coming back at 9 o'clock.
- She went to bed at midnight.
- We visit our parents at weekends.
- We are having a party at night.
2. On ใช้กับวันของสัปดาห์หรือวันที่ของเดือนรวมทั้งวันหยุดต่าง ๆ ตัวอย่างเช่น
- We will have a test on Monday.
- She was born on August 14th 1985.
- We give each other presents on New Year's Day.
- He usually goes to the beach on holidays.
- She sang many songs on Christmas Day.
3. In ใช้กับเดือน ปี ฤดูกาลและช่วงเวลา เช้า บ่าย เย็น ตัวอย่างเช่น
- He was born in 1990.
- They will go to Europe in winter.
- I love to go there in winter.
- We get up very early in the morning.
- She will go shopping in the afternoon.
หมายเหตุ
ในกรณีที่วัน เดือน ปี หรือฤดูกาลต่างมีคำมาขยายข้างหน้า
เช่น last Sunday , next Summer , this afternoon เป็นต้น
จะไม่ใช้ in , on หรือ at ตัวอย่างเช่น
- I saw her last Tuesday.
- She will be sixteen next July.
- We will have dinner together this evening.
คำที่บอกวันได้แก่ today , yesterday , tomorrowทั้งสามคำนี้ไม่ต้องมีคำบุพบทนำหน้า ตัวอย่างเช่น
- She will call you tomorrow.
- I met him yesterday.
- She is here with us today.

Prepositions of Place
Prepositions of Placeเป็นคำบุพบทที่ใช้บอกเกี่ยวกับสถานที่ คำที่มักใช้บ่อยคือat, in, on, to ซึ่งมีวิธีใช้ดังนี้
1. At ใช้ระบุตำแหน่งของสถานที่เป็นจุดย่อย ๆ เช่น ที่ร้านค้า ที่โรงเรียน ที่สนามบินและใช้กับบ้านเลขที่ ตัวอย่างเช่น
- I live at 141 New Road.
- She is waiting for me at the hotel.
- They are studying at Oxford University.
- I will meet you at the airport.
2. In ใช้ระบุถึง "ภายใน" ของสถานที่ ตัวอย่างเช่น
- She is sleeping in that room.
- I live in the centre of Bangkok.
- You shouldn't talk in the library.
3. On ใช้ระบุถึงตำแหน่งว่าอยู่ "บน" หรือ "ริม" ของสถานที่ ตัวอย่างเช่น
- She has been on the road for more than one hour.
- Bangkok is on the left bank of the Chao Phraya River.
- We will have our lunch on the train.
- Don't walk on the right of the street.
4. To ใช้ระบุถึงจุดหมายปลายทางหรือผู้รับที่เป็นชื่อบุคคลหรือสรรพนามที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นกรรม ตัวอย่างเช่น
- I will go to Japan next month.
- They made a visit to the museum.
- She walked slowly to him.
- Jim threw a ball to Bob.

สำนวน in time = ทันเวลา
on time = ตรงเวลา

4.  คำบุพบทอื่นๆที่ใช้บอกเวลา   ได้แก่
during   =   ระหว่างเวลา, ตลอดระยะเวลา   ปี ค.ศ., พ.ศ.
เช่น during 1956 = ระหว่างปี ค.ศ. 1956 หรือ
the/this/that + เวลา เช่น during the night = ตลอดคืนนั้น
My father and my mother will to to Pataya during holiday.
คุณพ่อคุณแม่ของฉันจะไปพัทยาในช่วงวันหยุด

since    = ตั้งแต่ (จุดเริ่มต้นของเวลา)
for         = เป็นเวลา (ช่วงเวลา/ระยะเวลา)
till/until  = จนกระทั่งอาจใช้ในรูป from…till/until
I waited for you until six o’clock, but you didn’t come.
ผมคอยคุณจนกระทั่ง 6 โมง แต่คุณไม่มา
We usually do our homework from 7 o’clock until 9.
โดยปกติเราจะทำการบ้านตั้งแต่ 1 ทุ่ม ถึง 3 ทุ่ม
ในกรณีใช้ from…til/until เราสามารถใช้ form…to แทนได้
before  = ก่อน         after   = หลัง
Ladda went home after she had finished her work.
ลัดดากลับบ้านหลังจากเธอทำงานเสร็จ
You must send your report before 9 o’clock.

เธอต้องส่งรายงานก่อน 9 โมง
